Electrical Department – Control Systems Designer
We currently have a full- time vacancy for a Control Systems Designer to further strengthen our clients Electrical team.
The successful candidate will be required to produce high quality work to tight deadlines with the minimum of supervision. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with good communication skills and at least 5 years’ experience in a similar field. Working closely with the Engineering Manager you will play a key role in the continuous improvement of the electrical control systems and build process with key focus on quality and consistency.
Responsibilities will include:
Ensure conformance customer specification
Design of control systems for our standard range of servo controlled bending machines
Design of one off control systems for ‘special’ bespoke machines
Design of 3ph mains power, control and machine safety circuits
Creation of BOM’s
Creation of technical drawings and related documents in 2D Autocad or 3D Solidworks
Creation and control of manufacturing drawings, documents and revisions
Collaboration with manufacturing teams
Ensure compliance with current machinery directive legislation
Provide remote customer support
Ensure the quality of manufactured electrical systems
Provide commissioning and fault- finding guidance to production teams
Maintain up to date technical records in accordance with ISO procedures
Help maintain factory electrical infrastructure records
This is an exciting role based in a fast- paced production environment. The right candidate must have a good working knowledge of servo motion platforms, electrical legislation and control system functionality.
Required experience / knowledge:
17th Edition Wiring Regulations
Inspection and Testing (preferred)
Minimum level 3 qualification in related discipline or HNC
At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
At least 3 years’ experience with servo motion control systems
Experience of 3 phase power distribution
Experience of PLC programming
Experience of motion control programming
At least 3 years’ experience of machine safety systems to machinery directive standards
Good management & communication skills
Good commercial awareness
Travel both in the UK and abroad occasionally
Full driving licence
Travel throughout the UK and world may be required.
This is a full- time salary based position. You will be required to work a 39 hour week 8 - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, with an early finish at 3:15pm Friday. You may be required to work overtime depending on production demand.
