This role would ideally suit a Buyer from a manufacturing background who has international buying experience.

The Role
* Identify new overseas sources ensuring continuity of supply with existing UK suppliers.
* Negotiating and managing overseas suppliers with regard to cost, quality and lead time.
* To ensure purchases are made in the most cost effective way and to monitor stocks without affecting sales.

* A high degree of product focus, with an ability to drive through engineering based savings as well as the effective building of strategic relationships in order to ensure that suppliers remain competitive and drive cost down through continuous improvement.

• Implement commodity based sourcing strategies
  • Work with Logistics, Quality, Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales and Marketing in order to ensure conformance to the purchasing strategies developed
    • Conduct supplier negotiations in order to yield significant cost savings
• Develop relationships with key suppliers in order to fully understand cost drivers and take a total acquisition approach to costs savings
  • Meet departmental targets to Budget Forecast

The Person
* International buying experience within a manufacturing industry.
* Strong negotiation and communication skills.
* Competent IT user including MS Office

• Demonstrate commercial awareness/ability - demonstrated problem solving ability - demonstrate structured project management approach
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to apply them within an engineering/manufacturing environment
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
• CIPS Level 4- minimum or equivalent
