Job: Maintenance Engineer
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Location: Malton
Hours: 5am-5pm, 4 on 4 off
Salary: £48-51k DOE
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to support the safe and efficient operation of our food manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production and packaging equipment to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with food safety and health & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update CMMS systems as required.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC, GMP).
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with production teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
- Assist with spare parts management and inventory control.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
- Proven experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Strong knowledge of production line machinery, conveyors, motors, pumps, and packaging equipment.
- Experience with PLC fault finding (desirable).
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Flexible approach to shift work if required.
